The BEST Supergreen Smoothie EVER! (Body Healing Detox Series)

Incorporating a Supergreen Smoothie into your everyday routine prior to or after breakfast, can help you tremendously in creating regular bowl movements, as well as assisting your body to absorb the vital nutrients, vitamins and minerals that it requires in order to sustain itself throughout the day!
THE DOWN LOW
Ok ok, calm your farm! I know there are a lot of amazing super green smoothies out there to choose from, and sometimes it can be difficult to pick the one that's right for you! This is a recipe I created a few years back while I was going to the gym to try and get the correct nutrients, vitamins and plant based protein sources in my body after going Vegetarian/Plant-Based.
This smoothie is JAM PACKED with all the essentials, and can be modified or added to depending upon your own unique requirements. It'll kick start your bowl movements, metabolism, immune system, digestive system and energy levels tremendously during in the morning period. I highly recommend it to anyone who is plant based, vegan or vegetarian, or just anyone who wants to add more fruits and veggies into their diet the smooth and easy way!!!

INGREDIENTS LIST:
• 1 Apple
• 1 Carrot
• 1 Cucumber
• 1/2 Celery Stalks (Optional but highly recommended)
• Freshly Chopped Kale
• Freshly Chopped Spinach (optional) • A handful of RED Grapes (cuts out the flavour of all the greens)
• 1 Teaspoon of Spirulina
• 1/2 Teaspoon of Wheatgrass (optional)
• 1 Tablespoon of Chia Seeds • 1 Tablespoon of Hemp Seeds
BENEFITS OF INGREDIENTS: Apples: You've heard of the saying "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" - and your about to find out exactly why! Apples are a potent source of flavonoids, antioxidants and fibre. There are phytonutrients and rich antioxidants in apples that have been shown to reduce the risk of developing diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease and hypertension.
Carrots: Bugs bunny had his diet right down to nothing but carrots! Carrots are an amazing source of beta-carotene, fiber, vitamin K, potassium and antioxidants. Carrots are known to have a number of health benefits such as healthy weight loss, low cholesterol levels and in some cases have been a source of improving eye related health issues. I would highly recommend them along side safe sun-gazing and eye exercises to improve poor vision and help restore eye sight.
Cucumber: These crisp, tasty and delicious veggies are a great alternative source of hydration for the body. Cucumbers are high in important nutrients, vitamins and minerals. They contain anti-oxidants that may help to promote weight loss and reduce blood sugar levels within the body.
Celery: Everyone has heard about the Celery Trend! It's become an increasingly popular addition to the modern diet due to it's high amounts of dietary fibre, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, folate, potassium and manganese. It also contains riboflavin, vitamin B6, pantothenic acid, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus which are all vital to the smooth functioning of each of the organs within the body.
Kale: This SUPERGREEN has be labelled one of the most nutrient dense foods on planet earth! It provides powerful antioxidants such as Quercetin and Kaempferol and is an amazing source of Vitamin C. Kale has been said to assist in lowering cholesterol, and is one of the worlds best sources of Vitamin K.
Spinach: Popeye the sailor man was an advocate for spinach! He was constantly eating spinach to increase his muscle mass through it's source of protein and fibre! Spinach contains several vitamins and minerals, such as potassium, magnesium, and vitamins B6, B9 and E. Spinach is an extremely nutrient-dense vegetable containing carotenoids, vitamin C, vitamin K, folic acid, iron and calcium for a strong healthy body and bones.
Red Grapes: These bad boys not only add some sweetness to the mix but are vital in helping cut out the somewhat acquired taste of green vegetables. Red grapes are full of Vitamins C & K and enriched with a high antioxidant content to help prevent chronic diseases such as cancer and diabetes. They also assist in lowering blood sugar levels and maintaining good heart health.
Hemp Seeds: Did somebody say Plant Based Protein? Hemp seeds are a complete source of protein that provide all 9 of the essential amino acids required by the body. They contain fibre, vitamins, minerals and unsaturated/polyunsaturated fats including a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids. You'll be sure to feel a difference in your body once you add some hemp seeds to the mix!
Chia Seeds: Another superfood full of Omega-3 fatty acids and very few calories! Chia Seeds contain a large amount of nutrients and are loaded with antioxidants. They contain much needed fibre and are a high quality source of non-processed protein. I would highly recommend adding these to your smoothies, breakfast bowls and cleanse routines, they will do wonders for your intestinal health!
Spirulina: Another high source of plant based protein, this green algae like powder can significantly boost your metabolism, improve gut health, lower cholesterol, manage diabetes, reduce blood pressure and prevent heart disease. Spirulina is a great source of plant-based nutrients that is easily digested and absorbed by the body without weighing you down!
Wheatgrass: This superfood is low in calories but high in nutrients. Wheatgrass contains antioxidants such as glutathione, vitamin C, and vitamin E. These antioxidants help to fight free radicals in the body and reduce oxidative stress to protect against arthritis, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases. It's also a great way to keep your teeth healthy if swooshed in the mouth as a replacement for chemical mouthwash! Wheatgrass is optional, however we highly recommend adding it into your daily lifestyle in some form.
PLEASE MODIFY THE INGREDIENTS BASED UPON YOUR OWN INDIVIDUAL NEEDS AND PREFERENCES. NOT EVERYTHING WILL SIT WELL WITH EVERYONE!

PREPARATION
I prefer to use a Nutri Ninja/Bullet or any type of blender that keeps the pulp and full extracts of each ingredient in the smoothie rather than juicing the ingredients. This allows for all of the contents of the fruits and vegetables to be consumed in liquid/pure form to receive the maximum benefits, not to mention it's deliciously easy to consume.
Simply wash, chop and add all of the fruits, vegetables, seeds and Spirulina/Wheatgrass into your blending cup/bowl. Add fresh purified/spring/alkaline water to the mix and blend away!!! You can add more or less water depending on your preferred texture. Once the ingredients are well blended together, just pour the contents into a glass and consume prior to breakfast/lunch. It is best taken during the morning period so that your body can absorb all of the vital nutrients, vitamins and minerals easily, whilst helping you to flush out any excess waste that is sitting in the colon and creating a toxic environment in your intestines.
This smoothie will also increase the chances of kicking out any bad bacteria or parasites that are leeching all your nutrients and help to cleanse and flush them out from your system during a detox.
