EASY DIGEST VEGETABLE CHAPATI'S (Gut Healing Recipes)

Updated: Oct 27, 2024

Did you know that healing your gut & being healthy doesn't have to be bland and tasteless? Check out these amazing plant based Vegetable Chapati's to find out how to heal your gut the delicious way!

THE DOWN LOW

One of the toughest things for me to let go of during this cleanse was bread, gluten, roti, chapati type foods because they honestly used to make up a large portion of my diet! Unfortunately, the body doesn't digest gluten, and therefore it gets stuck to the lining of your gut and causes all sorts of issues! One of those issues being Leaky Gut Syndrome! So I had to really limit my wheat and gluten intake to ensure I was allowing the gut time to heal and repair itself.

This half veggie half flour mix version of a chapati was a perfect way to reintroduce these kinds of foods back in to my diet without over burdening the digestive system. The half vegetable mix is perfect as it allows for the wheat to be broken down more steadily and aids in the process of digestion.

THE CONCOCTION

As mentioned, the mix of 1 or 2 different vegetables to your chapati, not only adds flavour but also aids in digestion! It's practically a win win! With just a pinch of salt and herbs you have yourself an amazing roti wrap that you can fill up with all your favourite veggies. I'd definitely include sour kraut, it not only adds flavour but is also fermented and amazing for your gut!

In this particular recipe I used carrots and spinach as my two veggies and the rest was a multi-grain flour, but you can choose any flour you like. Remember, at this point my gut wasn't as sensitive as before, so it was a lot easier for me to process it. I would definitely recommend only adding these in once you part way healed or more, to not add too much stress on the body.

INGREDIENTS

•A bunch of cilantro to taste

•A pinch of salt and herbs to taste

• 1/2 cup of 1 or 2 vegetables of your choice

• 1/2 cup flour of your choice (choose the healthiest options)

• Water to mix all ingredients together, a little at a time

THE RECIPE

Step 1: Prepare Ingredients: Peel & grate carrots, chop up spinach and a half full of cilantro

Step 2: Mix & Mash: Mix the vegetables in with half a cup or 1 full cup of flour depending on how many veggies you put in. Add water gradually and slowly until it forms a dough.

Step 3: Roll it out: Break off small balls, roll them around in your hand then flatten them on to a pre-floured board. Use a rolling pin to roll them out as far as possible ready to be cooked!

Step 4: Steam it up: Add a little butter or oil to a flat pan and add your chapati to the pan. Allow it to cook sufficiently on each side, ensuring to flip it over every minute or less.

Step 5: Seeerrrveeee: Once have cooked the chapati equally on each side, it is ready to be served! You can use it as a side for your curries and soups, or even as a roti wrap. It's completely up to you how you eat these, but their definitely worth the effort! Specially on a gut cleanse!
