Become aware & embrace your pain.

Updated: Oct 27, 2024

I used to think living the dream, would be the dream. I think almost everybody does, except for those who are living “their dream” of course. It’s that whole, “pot of gold, grass is always greener on the other side theory. It never worked then, and it still keeps us indoctrinated now. Always looking for, or looking to something else to justify our settlement to the matrix. Isn't it sad though that the most dreams you’ll ever find, are buried 6 feet under in a yard full of people who slept their whole lives away, only to continue sleeping? Nothing but flesh and bones now, and it’s being consumed by the same tiny insects we used to act like were insignificant and stepped on everyday unconsciously.

Roaming through life everyday on autopilot, to a 9-5 job, driving the same streets, seeing the same people, missing out on the sunset even when it’s right in front of us. The thought of this both hurts and humbles my heart at the same time, because I too, used to think, act and be like this. Resisting against going with the wind, so blizzard after blizzard, hurricane after hurricane came and took me by force. Deep in to the depths of all the places I never wanted to go, all the places I swore I would never be, settling my life away, fighting the settlement and doing all of this for free. A constant uphill battle, a fucking struggle if you ask me.

Putting on a face, playing these characters for people around us, some of which don't even know us, and probably don’t give a shit about us anyway. I mean, yeah, I know that’s deep fam…But what’s deeper, is that this is what we’ve been doing!?! Immersed into the matrix as if were bopping our heads mindlessly to a tune we don’t even know. The beat is off, the melody comes and goes, and the music never lasts long. Cheap thrills, hurt kills, running from the life we’ve always wanted, only to embrace the one that was never truly ours to begin with. But mum did it? And so did dad? And my uncles, aunties, siblings, cousins, friends, they all did it, so isn't that what I should be doing too?

Naaaaah homie, you most definitely should NOT be doing the same shit everyone else did, because that’s what’ll make you everything you never wanted to be….”just like everyone else”. It’s easier said then done, easier to talk about then to listen, easier to point fingers than to clean our own hands. And that’s where we are falling short as a species. Constantly exporting our problems, issues and shortcomings to someone or somewhere else. Constantly blaming others for our pain, not realising that the responsibility to make a change, and live a better more fulfilled life is ours and ours alone. The power we hold within our own hands, is being diminished by the belief that this power is not ours to nurture and to carry forth.

Always waiting for something or someone else to come in and help us change our lives. Always relying on an unseen force to come through and magic it’s way into our existence so that we can experience bliss. Some future circumstance or situation that is going to help us change our lives for the better. Because things as they are right now aren't good enough for us to be happy. Because birds singing first thing in the morning, the sky changing colour from sunrise to sunset, the rainbows that appear amidst the rain and sunshine, the trees that live to help us survive, the water that nourishes and keeps us alive, the balance and harmony that planet earth maintains despite our efforts to capitalise it to its determent, just aren't enough to make us happy.

All along we are seeking change from an outside circumstance, from somebody else, from god, from a situation, from the future, or a dream that seems out of sight. All along we are looking, with our eyes wide open and a magnifying glass underneath the sun, burning the very thing that is sitting right here within us. A wealth and abundance of knowledge, of knowing, of truth, of creation and of light, waiting to be tapped into and unleashed out into the world.

The problem isn't that we are powerless, the problem is that we are powerfully looking outwardly for something that can only be seen, felt and understood by closing our eyes. Like most beautiful moments in life, one must close their eyes in order to feel them to their fullest potential. When we kiss, we close our eyes, when we dream, we close our eyes, when we meditate to find peace, again we close our eyes. It is in the inward state of being where all the answers to all our niggling questions await our attention.

So if we know this, then how do we tap into this inward state of being? What are the practical, “physical” human steps that we can take, in order to access this deeper knowledge and understanding of ourselves? Firstly, we must become aware of ourselves. Awareness is key. The only way to truly become conscious and tap into the infinite knowing of the universal energies and oneness of all things, is to clearly understand yourself, your repetitive cycles, your darkness, your pain, your “shadow side”. The only way to fix something, is to recognise that it is malfunctioning or not working to begin with. Most people are stuck on repeat, playing a broken record, and doing everything in their power to justify it as a “remix”. Lol, don’t mind the sarcasm, it’s my form of humour.

The issue that rises with this is that people will do absolutely anything to avoid pain, because from childhood we are told to avoid pain as it can lead to death, or critically hurtful situations. We later grow in to adults carrying these same beliefs that pain will inevitably lead to death, something we all avoid, but something that is inevitable anyway. This subconscious programming is so deeply embedded into our system, that we fail to realise that when we avoid pain or death, we also avoid happiness and living. Contrary to what most people believe, what I have come to realise in the pursuit of living my best life and cultivating my dreams, is that pain my friends, is our biggest ally. Pain is what pushes and propels us to move forward, however many people use pain as an excuse to stay stuck. It hurts doesn't it? You know what hurts even more, living 80-100 years of an unfulfilled, untapped, unconscious life…

We must understand and realise that pain itself is a messenger, a sign from our body, mind, emotions and the universe, that something we are doing is out of alignment with our true state of being. Because in truth, we are beings of light, powerful infinite co-creators, who are here to live a life of joy and abundance. To learn and to grow through both the darkness and the light. It is essential that we understand pain as a form of guidance toward liberation, rather than a medium to make us suffer, and then suffer some more. The moment you decide to look at pain as a signal that something needs to be changed or done differently, is the moment you will embrace pain as it comes, and rejoice as you set it free and let it go. Now that we know pain, what more is there to know…

To be continued in part 2.
